![]() ![]() The noodles are stiffer than real spaghetti, but after a moment's practice we were able to wrap them around a fork. I agree it's kind of a cross between zucchini noodles and real pasta. My daughter suggested that it tastes a little like zucchini zoodles. But if you're going plain-as-plain, as we did for our experiment, the can will feed two adults with any appetite at all. ![]() The can says it contains 4 servings I think you could get 4 small servings out of it IF you're topping it with a good meat sauce or IF you're having a salad on the side. ![]() My daughter and I shared the can - it gave us each a nice, big serving. We were lazy: We heated the canned sauce, then dumped in the Heart-of-Palm noodles and warmed them in the same pan. Thinking we wanted to be in a position to judge the pasta itself, we went with plain canned marinara sauce. The internet says to go with a robust sauce (such as marinara) rather than a lighter choice (such as butter and sauteed veg). Since I've only had it once, I cannot say whether this step was worthwhile. The internet didn't give me a time frame, so I let it sit about 10 minutes, then drained again. I had expected the can's contents to look Spaghettios, but it was full of standing-up-straight heart-of-palm chopped into spaghetti-shaped tubes. pretty expensive), and they also carry another brand called Absolutely Grain-Free Pasta for$2.50, which was available in spaghetti-shape only. Walmart carries the canned spaghetti-shape and the lasagna sheets in the Palmini brand ($3.99 per can, and it's an average sized can for a vegetable. When I went to Walmart to buy it, I had to ask for help - and the salesgirl took me to the Gluten-free aisle. The internet says the product would be found in the vegetable aisle or with pasta. It's available in a can in spaghetti shape or lasagna sheets, and it's available in a pouch. The name brand I read about online is Palmini. I recently read about a pasta substitute made from Heart of Palm. Anyone who says, "I don't miss a big, fat plate of spaghetti with meat sauce" is a dirty liar! I think we've all tried various pasta substitutes, but this is maybe the best one I've tried. ![]()
